This is a non-profitable and inclusive theatre festival. Blue theatre festival creates an alternative   opportunity for people and groups who aspire to express their ideas and experimental theatrical processes in form of discussion or presentation. This theatre festival brings out   diverse questions intertwined amidst the paradox and inter-relationships of life and society. This festival endeavours to build a creative bridge amongst the collective community, theatre and life. 

Here we try to create a space for collective learning and for introspecting on multi fold issues. This theatre festival establishes conscious and extensive discourse with audience through experimental theatrical performances on contemporary issues and encourages the process of thinking about the thought and ideas. .

This theatre festival intends to create a scope for such theatre practitioners who are ideologically inclined towards creating a space of conscious discourse between theatre and its audience and are trying to encourage the imaginative and creative capabilities of the audience through the medium of theatre. Educational qualification in the field of theatre is not a compulsory condition for this festival rather sensibility towards justice, freedom and equality and efforts in research and implementation of them is of prime importance. Rather than examining the productions this festival stands for the propagation of the above mentioned ideas.

The objectification of dilemmas experienced by a person amidst their journey of completeness from incompletes is the pulse of theatre, this cycloidal process of construction of experience through objectification passes through audience and is embedded in the heart of theatre.

 

With our theatre we usually get restricted to a particular auditorium in a city and in this civilized approach towards theatre festivals, the rural audience is usually left ignored. In Indian context, a huge mass of population is immersed in daily life struggles. This festival is a creative action for these marginalized spaces. Here, we aspire to create a critical and creative bridge between theatre and local community through a theatrical milieu. Here the regional residents would develop the competence to uproot the anomalies existing in our social and cultural environment.

 

This festival evidently develops the cumulous foundation in the direction of our aim of establishing the “Blue Theatre School”. This school is growing and nurturing now as an idea for the near future. The school and its syllabus would be convened by voluntary efforts of national and international theatre practitioners. In the journey of educational contribution of this theatre, Blue Theatre Festival is serving as a flambeau in search of such theatre practitioners. In Blue Theatre School, any person at any stage of her/his life can become a part of it as a student of theatre, without the requirement of any prior educational certificate. This festival provides an opportunity for meeting diverse theatre practitioners, thinkers and volunteers for establishment of Blue Theatre School.

Blue Theatre Festival: How

This theatre festival takes place in unconsidered places of country’s villages and cities. Here preference is given to creative and discourse oriented relationship between performances and audience. In this festival many people around the world join in apart from those engaged in productions. Various people provide intellectual strength and many organizations and people extend their support in various aspects of the festival. Also many of them join in this festival space to present their creative works and schemes. In this way, this festival is able to develop its global structure and is moving ahead with collective process and efforts.

Theatre has been an unvalued subject in vast part of society. Therefore, this festival establishes the importance of the process and effects of theatre through its presentations and theatrical discourse oriented gatherings. Theatre plays a major role in divergence of literacy and can become a creative medium for earning a living. This festival constantly propagates and advocates such concepts.

This festival builds a bridge among diverse communities. Suppose, you don’t imagine, there be no scope for practising imagination, you only imagine what you are told to, how would our life be then? In the journey from jungle to land to the sky, the qualities of human’s imagination and independent creation have been the driving force. In this festival such performance are invited from around the world which communicate and reinforce these ideas through the relationship between theatre and the society. Performances, that are interested in investigating this relationship and which encourage the aesthetic emotions of the people residing in at the lowest stop of this social structure. The Blue Theatre Festival goes to such stops. This festival is not being organized to be performed at eminent auditoriums of various cities but rather endeavours to keep the common and non-theatrical audience in focus in order to promote social-cultural literacy through experimental performances. This festival takes into consideration the themes originating from contemporary incidents and efforts to create a scope for critically empowered and conscious discourse.

Scaffold: The Cultivating Journey towards untold expressions of Coexistence 

 

Theme Background

To express is our unique quality. In every moment we are expressive in any style of form. Free expression is our natural right. Expression is the compulsory ancillary yield of any language. To learn and use the language is a creative activity, which constructs the bridge towards completeness from incomplete.

 

Language is interwoven with social interaction. It is social and necessary invention, so creativity is also social in a sense. The main concern of language and creativity is to create free communication in any form or style. Various relations develop in society by communication. On the whole to develop relations, create and express is not only the work of any specific religion, caste, painter, poet, writer or playwright, but it is the creative act of every human.

 

Imagine for a moment that someone is stopping you from any type of expression! Seizing the opportunities of expression! How our each moment will be without expression? Think about our condition in this world without any expression! All these points are to think, understand and feel. This event may not take deep root in our environment, so we should be aware of it.

 

The destination which grows with expression is the communication of expression. To express by oneself, and seeding the opportunities of expression for others, these two creative processes complete the cycle of free expression jointly. We express ourselves freely and create such scaffold for others in front of us so that they also get ready to express freely.

 

The section of free expression is deeply influenced by the infrastructural violence conflict and dominance of cultural imperialism in the society and thus abduct the expression. This abduction of expression transforms diversity into difference and one tries to change plurality into one way. It interrupts the bridge of expression between persons, communities and ends the affiliation in society. Relations generated through expression by communication are used for the betterment of oneself in their own style. It spreads the culture of violence against the culture of peace, by this the human groups are scattered and instead of the diverse acceptable human behavior, furious tornado of envy creeps up.

 

In this situation we pay no heed to the various opinions and reasoning of others and the situation of dreadful silence creeps up to close the path of mutual trust and homogeneity in society. The citizen, who are well connected to each other by multiple cultural heritage counts his companions as enemies. This political pollution tears apart our coexistence and hunts politically to achieve vested interest. As a result language and expression in whole and the power of people to create relations through expression diminishes and we gradually change into a dominating violent and dull society.

 

In this political pollution what should be done so that any power cannot finish our cohesion? Just think as we are unique and diverse, so are our neighbor, friends and our family members too and how this uniqueness and diversity enriches our comprehensive social life and language. Also think that how we can enrich our companion? How we can expand the medium of expression to be opportunistically effective? We all are companions of one another and are affiliated with human psychological relations.

 

To make strong of these affiliation, to make life of one another dignified cherished, we should be the scaffold to overcome the political pollution. To make the multicolored humane environment cherished and fertile, for the companions, we, ourselves can work as scaffold, to create a dignified, expressive, secular society which is assuring its citizens justice, equality and liberty, and endeavors to promote fraternity. It germinates human companion life which gives a base to compresence diversity with plurality. And to construct the pathway for companions to express their untold feelings.

Why this theme

Think, if any society stops with its ideas! What will happen if the continuity of ideas are pushed to an end in the society? A person has its primitive habits, as to think, understand, feel, imagine, to know one’s needs and to fulfil it create likewise. We gave a meaning to the earth through these primitive habits, conquered the insurmountable secrets of nature, and gave the planet a homely look. These primitive habits are still mingled with us as water in life. During this long journey from primitively to ultra-modern life of today, these habits have been continuously sophisticated. This sophistication is reflected in all our ecumenical activities from better to more onwards. But in this direction we also explore those primary habits which are inherent within us as violence, and apply it on companions. Due to this experiment, the politics of dominance, a parasitic process in nature, provokes us for violence.

 

By this we stay away from those primitive habits such as to think, understand, feel, imagine and stuck into this dominating political pollution. Our human powers destroy their own agencies and transform into predators without the power of primitive habits such as to think, understand, feel, imagine in favor of every political pollution. The bridge of affiliation of companions narrows down and the flag flies high of mutual destruction.

 

Water and fish are companions to each other and they have a continuous and relentless relation. Both cherish each other.

 

In modern world and motherland many war prose movements are active. Cultural dominance is expanding than inter allied relations of human being. To change this expansion into human allied inter relation, this theme will guide us.

 

“Whatever human wants to say and hear, wants for the wish to stay near one another “This thought will glow the theme as the energetic flame of torch, spread it as the fluidity of water, breaking through the horrific untold and silent present. This will build the desire of a creative happy world for human companions.   (Translation from Hindi)

Criteria

  1. Maximum number of 8 members in each performing team.

  2. Performing team should have the ability to adopt with village side environment.

  3. Performances has to flexible design wise so that it can be performed on any formal or informal venues

  4. We are traveling to multi venues along with all the selected teams.

  5. Local travel, travel with in festival venue, food and basic accommodation will be provided by the organizing team.

  6. We will select only 4 plays (National & International) for this year.

What We Offer

Food, Basic Stay, Performance fee total Rs.10, 000 (Ten thousand rupees) for all venues, travels in multi venues (SL class)
